“Engineered the Arts” Notion
#LisTalks Ep. 4 — 2023
This one’s also featured on my Instagram post (click here) and on my Medium post (click here).
In the mid-year of 2023, I have just graduated.
I embarked on a diverse journey, taking on roles as an intern and volunteer in both engineering and social fields. I also actively participated in multinational student conferences while venturing into the world of performance arts. I didn't multitask; instead, I approached each phase of my life separately, carefully managing my time and energy. This allowed me to effectively transition from one role to another and embrace the challenges of being an amateur adult, continually learning through hands-on experience.
On the day I held my bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, it symbolized more than just an academic achievement; it represented an open door to discover my other interests alongside my passion for the musical arts, diversifying my identity. I learned to engineer the arts: time and energy management, self-reflection, personal and academic growth, and so on. At the same time, I artistically did the engineering goods: researching and developing things with creatively narrating data-driven insights.
As a music hobbyist, my artistic calling in life has always reminded us:
Our lives offer countless opportunities to paint them with various experiences, not solely with accomplishments.
Even if we've achieved something significant in the past, there's no point in placing it on a pedestal if it holds us back from moving forward. This has always been a note in my heart, especially in an era where society often seeks impressiveness and spotlights.
Nevertheless, life isn't solely about seeking those stuff, the pursuit of being the one who 'is seen,' a common experience in the world of musical arts. There's more to life than that. We’re not defined by the quantity of successes we achieve, but by the meaning of our life experiences, which diversify our perspectives and shape our authentic character.
And my soul, as a lifelong perpetual learner, carries a message:
Living a life by diversifying our identities is one way to discover many paths to fulfillment.
It also means expressing our gratitude for exploring things we didn’t even realize we’ve been given, as well as for the dedication to our beloved ones who have raised us compassionately. By doing so, we can open ourselves up to a world of possibilities and profound fulfillment, rather than confining ourselves to just one single core.
So, here's to make mistakes and grow from them continuously.
